EGG REMOVAL
Spotted Lanternfly Life Cycle
Finding Spotted Lanternfly Eggs
If you had a severe infestation, there will definitely be Spotted Lanternfly egg masses close by. Spotted Lanternflies can lay their eggs on any flat surface including trees, cement, and wooden furniture. They prefer to lay their eggs on the side or underneath objects to protect them from the environment.
Tree of Heaven
The SLF often feed on Trees of Heaven and then lay their eggs nearby. Trees of Heaven are an invasive weed-tree that strongly attract Spotted Lanternflies. They are recognizable by their doubled leave formation which is uncommon in other local plants.
Recognizing Spotted Lanternfly Eggs
The Spotted Lanternfly eggs are a brownish color but are often covered by a white or gray protective covering. They are often gray and cracked by the late spring.
